Creative Uses of the Rubber Stamp

What is Stamping?

Stamping is a craft in which ink (made of pigment or dye) is applied to an image or pattern, that has been molded, carved, or laser engraved onto a sheet of rubber. The rubber is often attached to a more stable object like wood and brick. Increasingly, the joined rubber image with a sticky foam backing is attached to a cling vinyl sheet, which enables it to be used with an acrylic handle for help. Cling rubber stamps can be stored in a shorter amount of space and typically cost less than the wood-mounted versions. They also are positioned with a greater amount of accuracy. Plastic stamps  with simple patterns can be carved from a potato. The medium is generally some paper or fiber. Other media used are wood, glass, metal, rock, and plastic. High-volume batik uses liquid wax instead of ink.

Rubber stamps fall into three classes: stamps for use in the departments, stamps used for decorating things, or those used as children’s toys.

Rubber stamps for Business

Here are three different types of rubber stamps old stamp, where the pad is in a separate box from the stamp; self-inking stamps, which have a self-contained ink that rests into the pad until the ink is flipped 180 degrees to make an imprint; and pre-inked stamps, where the dye is impregnated with the ink.

Rubber stamps for business generally show a location and corporate logo. They often have adjustable parts that enable the user to adjust the date and the wording of the stamp. They are used to date incoming posts as well as to indicate specific handling for papers. In some countries, it is everyday use for legal documents such as contracts to be rubber-stamped over the sign as additional proof of authenticity.

Business stamps are commonly available from stationers or direct from the company. Modern stamps include address stamps, standard word stamps such as received or payment due, and dater stamps. These stamps make up around 30% sold yearly.

Other applications of Rubber stamps

Rubber stamps are not only used in the business. A few of the uses are listed below.

Automated rubber stamps

The document can be marked from within the user’s word processor. This can be done manually by creating a “stamp” for electronic documents in Microsoft Word to appear on documents in the marking software. It allows stamping on every page as it prints electronically-generated, user-selected stamps.

Art rubber stamps

Materials other than rubber can be used to make stamps. Woodcut and linoleum, linoleum carvings, are art forms based on the same principles. Linoleum is much harder than rubber and thus requires special bolts. Woodcuts are mostly used by professional artists, which require a lot of skill and patience. Rubber engraving equipment can be purchased, but it is sold as a child’s toy and is not widely used.

Photopolymer stamps are growing in popularity. They are often produced in a set of integrated images using transparent polymer materials on the acetate carrier sheet for storage and packaging. Stamps are peeled off the carrier sheet and affixed to a clear acrylic handle. This allows the stamper to view the image through the exact position of the image handle and effect. Photo polymer stamps are commonly produced for sale domestically and internationally in the United States. Similar clear stamps made of silicone are manufactured in China by American companies. Silicone stamps have many features of photopolymer stamps. Creating clear stamps makes storage of a large collection of images more comfortable, as they are all used with just one set of handles of different sizes. They are also often formed into multiple image sets that work together.

There are many possibilities to change the shape of the engraved stamps. Paints, pigments, and dyeing inks produce a variety of effects, extending the use of rubber stamping from paper to fabrics, wood, metal, glass, etc.

The uses of stamps can be combined with other materials. The image can be adorned with the addition of chalk, ink, paint, fibers and various other opium and embellishments.

Decorative rubber stamps

Decorative stamps, also called decorative stamps, are widely used in home-craft projects. Decorative stamps leave a lasting image on the page and create fantastic paint designs on different surfaces.

Art stamps can be used to decorate scrapbooks. Art stamps also used to give a personal touch to letters, greeting cards, birthday and Christmas cards, banners, and flyers. Art stamps can also be used to decorate holiday wrapping-paper.
