Bosch, Microsoft to Develop Driverless Software

Bosch Engineering Company has announced it’s cooperating with Microsoft Corporation to develop software for automobiles to join the rapidly-expanding electromobility (e-mobility) industry.

The Germany-based company will use cloud computing, a technology based on Microsoft Azure, with Bosch’s software units. The software platform will be tested in selected vehicles by the end of this year.

Bosch management director Dr. Markus Heyn said “Our purpose is to develop updates for wireless systems to appropriately work on cars; just like smartphones.”

The two companies are set to work together to enable auto manufacturers to optimize their own software updates.

Only last week, there was a report of the Volkswagen Group also collaborating with Microsoft so the autommaker can apply cloud technology to update the software plan for its driverless cars.
