AT&T (the American telecommunications company) looks to reduce its employees in the European country of Slovakia due to a fall in demand. Active for over a decade, AT&T Global Network Services Slovakia offers customer service as well as network engineering.
In a country with a population of 5.5 million, the firm has employed nearly 2,800 people. Its unemployment rate has increased to 7.4% in the wake of the Covid-19.
Working on growth areas, AT&T attempts to counterattack the decreased demand for legacy products, according to a spokesman.
In this regard, Martin Horkavy, the chairman of trade union uniJA, said after negotiations with the employees, some 300 jobs will be laid off.
