After removing abundant tall trees throughout the region, Waiyaki Way to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport is now filled up with concrete constructions.
Kenyans, who started protesting against this measure and actively took part in anti-destruction mass media to show their anger against cutting down the trees, the construction project kept going. Even their appeal for ending the destructive project was of no use.
Earlier this year, the government announced that the Chinese contractor, which has been behind the scene, will commit tree plantings in several public areas such as Uhuru Park and Nairobi National Park.
However, after the lockdown the government did a great of creating job opportunities to double up green space in places like Nairobi. Also, people have been encouraged to continue planting in urban regions.
