Will Instagram Face Same Challenge As Facebook?

FACEBOOK application has been drawn away to an unpredicted scale in India in the last quarter majorly as a result of TikTok, the Covid-19 pandemic and mobile data expenses in the country. CFO of Meta Platform on Wednesday this is partially due to Covid-19 pandemic lockdown.

Estimations in November indicates users’ monthly growth for Instagram will drop to 5.8% in 2022 and 3.1% by 2025 from 16.5% in 2021.

This is while it is expected that Instagram won’t face the challenge for the upcoming three years. 

Instagram, bought by Facebook, Inc. for $1 billion in 2012, is considered to be as a counteragent to slight growth on Facebook thanks to revenue gained from advertisements.

On Wednesday, the company announced for the first time ever within the months of October December, 2021 fewer users checked out their Facebook on a daily basis as compared to the year before. To this, add worrying signs including lower-than-expected profit and a gloomy revenue prospect.  

Data costs have increased in India and TikTok’s interest has risen, which have contributed to less usage of Facebook, he added.  

Over the years, Facebook and Instagram have already gone through challenges: data protection issue, analysis of users’ mental health and competition among social media platforms like Snapchat and Twitter.

Instagram is currently putting billions of dollars into video features like Reels, inspired by TikTok, which is the major reason behind Instagram’s growth according to Zuckerberg.
