The coronavirus pandemic has wracked up human lives in many ways. And it’s not just this. It has disturbed progress of high-tech and scientific experiments.
One example is a boat operating by a robot, which was planned to cross the Atlantic Ocean this month. The test has been postponed for several months as a result of the spread of Covid 19.
The 15-m trimaran is developed to surf boundaries of autonomous shipping to collect science-based information inside the ocean.
MAS (Mayflower Autonomous Research Ship) is directed by ProMare, and IBM is assisting with its technology.
The solar-operated boat is carrying out its trial in England next week before its unveil on September 16, which marks the 400th anniversary of Mayflower departure in 1620.
