Canadian athletic apparel retailer Lululemon Athletica has officially entered the footwear market. Its Blissfeel running shoes for women will be available in North America, Mainland China and the UK as of March 22. Other styles will soon be available.
The shoe has an upper to support movement and underfoot foam cushioning technology. Cushioning is the ability of the foam to absorb and disperse energy. The footwear is offered in 10 colors.
The company has started its footwear category with running shoes for women because performance training shoes are first designed for men and then fitted for women, according to Sun Choe, Lululemon’s chief product officer.
Three additional styles, including Chargefeel, Restfeel, and Strongfeel will be released in summer 2022. They have been designed for cross-training, post-workout and multi-directional movement, respectively.
According to a Lululemon press release, the company's men’s shoe collection will start in 2023.
