E-commerce in U.S. Flourishes Over Holiday

With a total $188.2 billion, digital shopping has increased in the United States during 2020 holiday season, a growth of 32.2% compared with a year earlier. As stated by Adobe Analytics, occasions like Black Friday and Cyber Monday in the month of November, brought about $100 billion in the country’s online sales. Also, over 2020 holidays internet spending surpassed $1 billion a day. Taylor Schreiner, Head of Adobe Digital Insights (ADI) team, said the pandemic has reinforced digital activities such as entertaining, shopping, working from home and so on. According to Adobe, in a week from Thanksgiving to Cyber Monday, spending digitally equaled only 18% of the whole season, compared with 20% in 2019. With an earlier-than-usual e-shopping in October, people tried shopping digitally to stay away from the crowds in stores in the pandemic era. Different research by Salesforce showed that Dick’s Sporting Goods and Target Corporation were among the companies that helped shoppers to get their orders via comfortable delivery of curbside pickups; and gained better profits on holiday season.
