Huge Energy Hub To Be Built in Denmark

Denmark is planning construction of a massive island in the North Sea as a prominent renewable energy source. As stated by the Danish Energy Agency, the large operation will be taken over by a public-private investment. The process will take place in different phases: the first is to utilize nearly 200 offshore wind turbines, which move electricity to the island. The capacity will start from 3 gigawatts and grow into 10 gigawatts in the future, sufficient to provide 10 million houses with electricity in Europe. It is estimated that the whole project will cost $33.97 billion.

Danish Minister for Climate, Energy and Utilities, Dan Jørgensen, stated that the renewable energy project, the largest in Denmark so far, will help to appreciate the great capacity of offshore wind throughout Europe.
