Canada Supports Businesses After Couche-Tard's Failed Deal

François-Philippe Champagne, Canada’s Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, in a tweet to Alain Bouchard, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alimentation Couche-Tard, guaranteed to support the company when the plan to purchase European retailer Carrefour SA failed. After France’s cold-shouldering to keep the deal, the two companies canceled transaction on January 15. The convenience store company gave it all up following the French Finance Minister’s uncertainty over food and job safety. The two will go ahead with Partnership Opportunities after all.
