Will Nigeria's Textile Revive?

Stagnant textile and garment industries have by no means restored for 3 years since 2017, according to Kwajaffa Hamma, Director -General at Nigerian Textile Employers Association. The government’s assistance to cotton output wasn’t appropriately done. Farmers of the produce said that the government’s involvement was constantly late, which had a negative impact on cotton yield. However, Kwajaffa the cotton problem didn’t affect textile industry as the produce is already beyond Nigeria’s demand and that government was supposed to put more money into textiles rather than into cotton. He added that farms can already produce their own requirements for cotton gin to be used in textile industry, and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) should be consistent with reviving textile industry. The government involvement has been carried out in an inappropriate hierarchy, top-down instead of bottom-top. He also noted that the problem is uncertainty over which textile to sell to; which suggests improper execution of policies in the country. Samira H.
