Female Ivorian Enterpriser Wins Africa Prize

Charlette N'Guessan, is an Ivorian entrepreneur who won the UK's Royal Academy of Engineering's prestigious 2020 Africa Prize for Engineering Innovation. The 26-year-old woman started her business along with a team, located in Ghana, to design facial identification software. The first women ever to win the Africa Prize, N'Guessan accomplished to build the software to check African identities. It was developed to support the existing systems with trouble recognizing black faces. The software is practicable in financial offices and several industries where identification is needed. Without a need for a special hardware, the BACE API software uses a phone’s camera or computers equipped with camera to specifically recognize African faces.   Samira H.
